Healthy Lemon Dal - Nimmakaya Pappu

Dal or  Pappu or Parippu is a source of proteins for balance diet.  In Andhra homes Dal is a regular accomplishment with lunch meal. Usually i will add leafy vegetables or some Vegetables to my regular Dal preparation. Today i am posting quick and easy to prepare  refreshing Lemon Daal - Nimmakaya Pappu.






Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Serves :  2

Ingredients :

  1. Moong daal - Pesara pappu             1 small cup
  2. Water                                           3 cups
  3. Pressure cooker
For seasoning:

  1. Whole red chilli                       1(split in to half)
  2. Mustars seed                          1/2 tea spoon
  3. Cumin seeds                            1 tea spoon
  4. Asafoteda                               1/4 tea spoon (pinch)
  5. Chopped Curry leaves              few
  6. Turmeric powder                     1/2 tea spoon
  7. Vegetable oil                            1 table spoon
  8. Lemon                                     Half cut  lemon 
  9. Chopped ginger                        1/2 tea spoon
  10. Chopped Gren chillies               1 tea spoon
  11. Salt                                          to taste
Method:
  1. Take washed Moong Daal in a Pressure cooker  and add 3 cups water.
  2. Cook Daal in medium flame for 5 to 6  minutes till 3 whistles to come. Off the flame. 
  3. After pressure cooker become cool take out the daal and mash it well and keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan in medium heat,add Asafoteda,split Whole red chilli and fry for few min.then add Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds  fry for few minutes till seeds to splutter then add Chopped Curry leaves.
  5. Now add cooked Daal to seasoning and mix well and add Turmeric powder,Chopped ginger,Green chillies,Salt and  cook for few min. in high flame for 1 to 2 min. Then add squeeze Lemon juice and mix well. In this stage if Dall is too thick add little amount water and cook few more minutes and off the flame.
  6. Serve with piping hot Rice topping with  butter or Clarified butter(Ghee)
