My Sringeri Visit

Thrilled to have a hundred of you friends!

I feel honored as each one of you joined my blog during the last few months. My joys of sharing each of these posts with you and hearing back the nicest comments possible kept up the yearning to come back again and again with every idea that popped up and every snap that i could pull out from my cam and each time my sons goaded me to do something fun-filled and joyous have brought me much closer to each one of you and i feel lost when i am not in the midst of you in the internet.

My today's post is a tribute to all of you! I sincerely invite all of you to visit India, and visit some of these places which i shared in my posts, which, i feel would give peace, happiness and joy to the inner souls of our life.

In my today's post I am sharing  my joy visiting this serene and pristine spiritual town with a splash of pictures... hope you would enjoy too!

Sringeri Saradha Peetha is a spiritual hill station of South Karnataka. Sri Sharadamba is the goddess of  knowledge and wisdom, who is worshipped by sages and saints of this country for many centuries. An archeologically and spiritually significant temple built in the honour of Goddess Sharada at Shringeri, a small rown in a picturesque location, in the middle of western ghats. Sringeri is 70k.m. distance from Manipal, the city i live now.. It is situated on banks of the river Tunga  - foot hills of Satya mountain as a part of Western Ghats,Chikmagalore district,Karnataka.
The Philosopher  and Sage who propaated the spiritual path of Adwaitha Vedantha ( the philosophy that God and human being are inseperable part of a soul), Guru Sri Adi Sankaracharya established Sringeri Mutt and the temple at this location few centuries ago.

Here in Manipal rainy season starts in the first week of June itself. I visited this place  during the second week of June, in the midst of heavy rains, along  with my mother, aunt and my sis' beautiful daughter Archita. While we traveled I find the rain has suddenly become a beautiful song, with lots of drizzle and breeze, totally different from a downpour that was haunting us all the previous day, making it a memorable drive.

 Western Ghats

mountain ranges in lush green feasting our eyes
journey through fog - in the midst of June! is this Indian summer?

misty and rainy entrance to the road to Sringeri

Suddenly, water falls emerging out of nowhere...

a towering view of the temple!!!

On the  River Tunga a foot bridge for pilgrims to reach the temple
The Temple Elephant is hurrying for lunch lead by its mahout!

Divinity all pervading... the temple cow is giving blessing to all devotees

On the way we visited Udupi and Malpe Beech.... This is a snap of me with my beautiful daughter,  mother-in-law, aunt and my mom (sitting on he far end of the bench, looking into the cam)!!! I will post the experiences of being a traveler with them along with their beautiful pics in my next post.
