Dal Shorba

Today's post is Dal Shorba is a delicious Vegetable Lentil Soup.

  1. Lentil (Pigeon peas) or (Green gram)        1 cup(wash in clean water and drain water and keep it aside)
  2. Onions                                                     2 (chopped)
  3. Potato                                                     1 (Remove the skin and finely chopped)
  4. Carrot                                                     1 (Remove the skin and finely chopped)
  5. Tomatoes                                                4 (finely chopped)
  6. Fresh Coriander leaves                            1/2 cup(chopped)
  7. Bay leaf                                                   1
  8. Ginger paste                                            1 tea spoon
  9. Garlic paste                                             1 tea spoon
  10. Water                                                     4 cups
  11. Salt                                                         to taste
  12. Mint leaves or Dil leaves                          for garnishing
  13. Cream                                                    1 tea spoon for garnishing
  14. Lemon juice                                            1 table spoon

  1.  Take all ingredients in a Pressure cooker,except Lemon juice and Mint leaves and cream.
  2. Close the Pressure cooker  and bring to full pressure on high flame.
  3. Reduce the flame and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Off the flame and allow cooker to cool naturally.
  5. Open the Pressure cooker and discard the Bay leaf.
  6. Put half the soup lightly in blender.
  7. Return the blended soup  to the remaining soup in the Pressure cooker stir and reheat for 2 to 3 minutes in high flame.
  8. Off the flame and add lemon juice and stir well.
  9. Serve hot topping with Mint or Dil leaves and cream.
