Belated Sri Rama Navami Wishes to All

The great Hindu Sanskrit Epic Ramayana tells the story about Lord Rama and his Wife Sita.This story tell's us about Sri Rama's (hero of this story) journey.Day before yesterday means April12th is the Lord Rama's Birth day. Normally  Rama Navami festival celebrates great way in India. In South India Sri Rama Navami normally performs Kalayanothsavam means marriage for deities in temples and homes.

In Andhra Pradesh Sri Rama Navami Kalayanothsavam(marriage) performs in  great manner. I am also busy in doing Puja. Sorry friends,I am a bit late in posting my recipes for this festival. For this festival Prasadams  in my home,Panakam,Vada Pappu,Panchamrutham,Pulihora,Pal Payasam etc.

Prasadams  (recipes) for this festival:
  1. Panakam means - traditional method of making cool drink. Making this Panakam we need:Drinking water,powdered jaggery,powdered cardomom (for flavor), little crushed black pepper(for spice).Mix  well in a wide vessel.
  2.  Panachamrutham means mix of natural five sweet tastes. Method of making Panchamrutham:  Banana pieces,Honey,Coconut water,Milk and Curds. Mix  all ingredients well in a wide bowl.
  3. Vada Pappu -  Soaked green gram Salad.  Method for making this recipe 2 to 3 hours soaked and cleaned green gram (here i used green gram sprouts). For spice little salt,green chilli pieces,lemon juice mix well all ingredients in a bowl.

Today i offered for my God,Pulihora(Sweet and tangy Rice),Pal Payasam (Sweet Milk Rice)  for our God.
Ingredients:
  1. Rice           1 cup
  2. Milk           21/2 cups
  3. Sugar        11/2 cup
  4. Almonds    few(cut into long pieces)
  5. Cardamom 2(pound it )
Method:
  1. Clean rice with water.Now take Pressure cooker(i used small size pressure cooker)add rice and milk into this cooker.
  2. Cook this milk rice in stove top in a medium flame for 5 to 6 min. and turn of  the flame.
  3. After cooker become cool open the cooker lid, add sugar and cook again for 4 to 5 min.till rice has to become soft and smooth.
  4. Remove Payasam from cooker and add cardamon powder and almond pieces mix well.
  5. Serve warm topping with few almond pieces.

  9. It looks delicious!! In Catalonia we have a similar desert, but we put lemmon in the milk and cinnamon on top.
