Onion Paratha - Stuffed Indian Flat Bread

Onion Paratha is one more simple and easy to make winter Indian stuffed bread.  This is very famous break fast recipe from  Northern part of India. I like to make these Parathas in Sunday mornings that too   monsoon and winter lazy Sunday mornings are very nice to enjoy these hot Onion Parathas topping with dollop of butter and  lime pickle and cup  of  plain fresh curds. 






Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients  for dough:
  1. Wheat flour                2 cups + 1/2 cup for dusting
  2. Coriander powder      1 table spoon
  3. Salt                             to taste
  4. Vegetable oil              1 table spoon
  5. Water                          to knead dough

Ingredients  for stuffing:
  1. Chopped onions            1 cup
  2. Coriander leaves           1/2  cup
  3. Chopped green chillies  1 tea spoon
  4. Salt                               to taste
  5. Mix chopped onions,chopped green chillies,Chopped coriander leaves and Salt,keep it aside.
Ingredients for shallow fry Onion Parathas:
  1. Vegetable oil                1 cup
  2. Butter for topping optional
Method for Paratha dough
  1. Take Wheat flour in a wide bowl.
  2. Add Salt,Coriander powder and 1 spoon vegetable oil  to flour, mix well.
  3. Then add little little amount of water  to flour and  make it like a smooth dough and cover
  4. Keep it aside 10 to 15 minutes.
Method for Stuffing:
  1. Take wheat flour dough and make  to medium size dough balls
  2. Take one dough ball  press gently with roller pin.
  3. Take 1 tea spoon chopped onions mix stuff it in the rolled dough and closed slowly with hands.
  4. Now dust wheat flour on top of the filled dough and press gently with wooden roller pin and make it in to round Paratha
  5. Gently transfer it into hot Tawa(pan) and brush with vegetable oil and shallow fry both the sides (till turn it into golden brown color).
  6. Place it in serving plate.
  7. Serve hot Onion  Parathas topping with butter and lemon pickle or tomato pickle or tomato sauce and fresh plain cup of curds.
