Dal Fry Dal Fry is a comfort and rich Tur dal (split  pigeon   peas lentil) recipe from northern part of India. It is a simple,tasty and delicious side dish,  goes well with  piping hot steamed rice or Indian flat breads.  Preparation time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 20 minutes Serve 4. Ingredients: 1.      Toor dal    -     1 cup 2.      Water        -     2 ½ cups 3.      Salt            -     To taste 4.      Turmeric  -     1 tea spoon Seasoning :  1.   Tomatoes                           -   3  (finely chopped) 2.   Clarified butter or ghee      -  3   tablespoons 3.   Cumin seeds                       -  ½   tea spoon 4.   Mustard seeds                    -  ½   tea spoon 5.   Asafotida                            -  ¼  tea spoon 6.   Whole red chili                   -  2  7.   Bay leaf                              -  2 8.   Green chili                          - 1finely chopped 9.  Ginger
